Are Animes/Mangas Starting to Come True?

I was looking at my Popular Science magazine (yeah, that's right) and I came across some articles that I couldn't help but relate to animes/mangas that include technologies that don't exist yet
For example:

Angelic Layer- In this series, there are little fighting robots that people are able to control with their minds with some head gear

And now scientist are making robots that you can control with your maind through an interface helmet. It's being made for medical purposes now, but hey, maybe it'll evolve into something Angelic Layer-ish.

Laputa, Castle in the Sky- In this movie, there are huge plane-like structures that just seem to stay in the sky, never landing.

Now they're making a solar powered plane that, at the moment, can stay in the air for years. It doesn't quite look livable,but still...

So, has anyone else found any technologies that have appeared in animes/mangas that are being made/have been made, or find this interesting? Or are there any technologies you'd like to see built?

My sister and I entered the costume masquerade as the boshi twins from fushigi yuugi, but, unfortunately, we had to leave the picnic before we could hear who the winners were. Could someone kindley tell us who they were?

Hey guys, this is Hussen, nickname Houston! I am from Naperville, and I will be a junior this fall at Naperville North High School!

I am full Chinese, my parents are from Canton, so I can speak Cantonese, but I also know Mandarin. I love anime and manga, of course, my favorites are Naruto, Lucky Star and Code Geass, and some other random ones, I have a lot of favorites. Other than anime and manga, I also am a huge fan of breakdancing, I can't break really well, but I try. XD My favorite crew, as you can tell, is Quest Crew, the winners of ABDC season 3. Another hobby I have is playing football, I was on the football team at North, though I will not play varsity because I am lazy. >_>

I went to the Soycon photoshoot today because my friends told me about it, and I had a lot of fun. I was the short azn kid who cosplayed as Kiba from Naruto, (fur coat & hot weather...not good) by the way. I won't be able to make tomorrow's picnic, but I hope I can next year. Thanks for the great event, hope to hear from you soon!

Beach Party Canceled

Alright. Now I can officially make the final call.

Due to the increasing forecasts of rain and scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. (Going past the 50% mark) The beach party meetup is officially canceled. Take note that this does not effect the photoshoot and picnic of SoyCon. The photoshoot and picnic is forcasting great weather this weekend. We apologize the beach meetup is canceled. Since everyone that was going now has a day off, please use this time to prepare for this weekend.

I won't be showing up to the beach today. If there are some who still want to go to the beach, please watch the weather and be safe.

Laura Bailey - (first Wisconsin con appearance!) Laura has worked on over forty titles in both Texas and California, providing her directing and producing talents to many of them. Some of her most recognizable roles are: Shin in Shin Chan, Tohru Honda in Fruits Basket, and Lust in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Travis Willingham - (first Wisconsin con appearance!) Travis has worked in stage, TV, and film, but is best known in the anime world for his character Colonel Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist - one of his very first roles in anime. He has since gone on to work on many other popular titles in both Texas and Los Angeles.

Tim Seeley - Tim Seeley is the writer and creator of Hack/Slash, and a professional comic book illustrator. He began his art career as a children's book illustrator, and eventually found himself drawing 3 3/4" men in the G.I. Joe comic.

Pat Rothfuss - Pat Rothfuss is the author of the highly acclaimed fantasy novel The Name of the Wind, which is the first book in the Kingkiller Chronicle.

This year, if I dont work, will be my first SoyCon.
My first convention was ACen 04, and I've been cosplaying since then. And Commissioning since 2005.
I've been to a bunch of cons in and out of this state, including Florida's MegaCon08.

Contestant profiles for Karaoke Idol are now online. Remember, these contestents are not officially in the competition yet. If contestent pre-registration numbers exceed the limit, there will be a random selection to see who will advance to the competition. If there's open slots left, whoever is pre-registered is guaranteed a slot in the competition. As for the remainder slots, there will be an at-con registration for anyone who wants to take part in the competition. A reminder that pre-registration for Karaoke Idol, Cosplay Masquerade, and Improv Masquerade are still going until June 8th at midnight. Go into "Events" within the "Picnic" section for further information about each competition. You may view the contestant profiles for Karaoke Idol below.

I'm a newbie to Soycon and I was googling the directions to the Picnic event... Anyone else coming from the south? I'm thinking a car pool might be a good idea since its an hour-ish drive... Just a thought!
